Spring, my lawn, and Jesse the dog

Spring is here, Easter is almost upon us, and my lawn is taking over.

This morning Jesse and I were inspecting some areas of the lawn the need special attention. Well actually, I was walking the lawn in an effort to prioritize some of the  projects that I need to work on because of the early spring and Jesse was making sure to bring my attention back to herself.

This morning was so beautiful that I decided I needed an excuse to stay outside. So instead of going in the house to finish my breakfast dishes I picked up the dog’s brush.  It wasn’t a hard to decsion, Jesse is engaging and the dishes will still be there in a half hour.

Tuna, a dog’s best friend

Over this past week, Jesse, my dog, has been getting a little tuna with her breakfast. I don’t know if it my mind playing tricks on me but her coat looks healthier and she seems to be able to get around better. It is worth the can of the tuna to see her happy and healthy.  I also gave her a dose of de-wormer too. It is cheap insurance and will make sure she can enjoy all the nutrients from her food, instead of some nasty parasites. Continue reading

Wow! Winter is back.

Looking out my window this morning, I would have thought it to be December. Except that in December it would still have been too dark out to see the snow at 6:00 a.m.

The snow blanketed the backyard and frosted my pine trees to make me wish it was Sunday morning instead of Friday.

My dog on the other hand was blissfully happy to go out in the snow. She loves to rut around in the fresh snow and snap it up. As she gets older she it takes her a few moments to get her back half moving as fast as her front half would like to go but she is a real trooper.

After eating her breakfast, she wiggled and wagged for me to let her go out and play for the day. She loves being outside and has plenty of things to explore in the yard.

On warm, sunny days I sometimes catch her laying out on a warm stop to soak the sun. As the shadows encroach upon her, Jesse will move around the yard to find a sunny spot.

Have a nice day.

Something new for a new day.

2012 has been full of adventures. So far this year I have plunged into Twitter, Google Documents, Wiki, and now I am a blogger.

Jesse, my dog has hit 84 in dog years. I have noticed that her hind quarters seem very heavy in the morning and late evening.  She is (I admit) spoiled and will not eat crunchy Glucosamine treats. I am on the lookout for a semi-soft Glucosamine treat that she will like.

Any good dog treat ideas?
